Steve Jobs recently announced the iPad 2. I have been using the first one for a while now and I will not be lining up for the upgrade; though if I did not have one I would buy the new one.

Tablet computing seems very useful, though it has drawbacks... Thoughts?

IMHO a computer needs a CLI to be taken seriously.

iDon't care! I'm sure it'll be very great for those awaiting it, but I really am sick of iPods, iPhones, and iPads constantly being released every few months. Worst over-saturation ever.

I bought my ipad for school.

Its incredibly crappy touchscreen doesnt handle fine point handwriting..something that Palm has been able to do for over 10 years.

Its a giant ipod touch..thats literally all it is.

The competitor tablets coming out are getting much better and will soon surpass the Ipad in functionality... the only thing I do give the ipad kudos for is its multitouch tech.. the other tablets still cant get it right.

If your going to get a new tablet go for a non apple one. The apple brand tablets don't even have flash, which seems intentional.

lets be honest here though, does anyone here really like flash who knows anything about it? How about acrobat reader for that matter? * especially* if you are a windows user. Those two plugins have been exploited on a routine basis over the past few years. And flash is awfully bloated/laggy. Anyone honestly beg to differ? Just saying, Apple isn't entirely wrong by taking the 'flash sucks' stance.

But the widespread use of flash makes compatability essential for a credible web browsing device today.

I think its an easy thing to replace given the rapid progress of JS/HTML5. I bet you when IE9 releases its just going to catch too and the web will move forward and never look back. and sooner or later adobe's flash products will have to export in js/html5. Youtube runs better on iPad (because its not using flash on iOS) than older computers that are supposed to outperform the device. That is just unacceptable.

I got an iPad and it's fantastic. If you got it for fine-point handwriting or whatever, you're an idiot, because you didn't research would it could and couldn't do before putting down your cash.

However, I don't feel the iPad 2 warrants an upgrade from my original one.

Meh, I'll stick with Android. It's all the rage these days.
