I have a Toshiba 2.5 inch HDD.
I have used it for my most importent files of all time with 1 years worth of work.
But as usual, fate likes to mess arround with importent things.
So.... my HDD gone half bust.
If I plug my HDD reader in my macbook, it reads it for 1 second and then the drive unmounts and then it gives me that safely unplug warning.
After that the lights on the HDD reader just blink on and off as if it is an error.
I can sometimes take the HDD out and shake it and blow on its ports and it will work.
Sometimes it is not the case.
Sometimes it is...
What is going on here!?

System Rescue CD or Clonezilla will boot from a CD. You should have another hard disc, e.g. a USB hard disc, with free space bigger than the broken disc. Duplicate the data and replace the broken disc. A hardware fault is almost certainly not repairable.
