I already have a relatively new PC and would like to know if there's any way to get older PC games to play on it. Older, I mean XP era. My "new" PC is running Vista.

^^ Greetings MasterJedi. I perhaps believe that you may play happy games for Windows XP within Windows Vista with no problems. I am very sorry if I am incorrect however. ^^ Alas, if you may be blessed by problems, I do hope this little link to a video below may assist you:

As per your earlier thread - download a free copy of Virtual Box and install that.
When you start it, create a virtual PC. There are wizards to help with this but it's really not complicated.
You'll end up with a window which will behave just like a real computer with no operating system installed: it will do nothing and display an error message that no bootable operating system was found - so treat it like a real computer and install onto it whatever version of Windows will suit the game you want to run. You won't need to do anything special: just have the virtual PC boot from the Windows installation CD/DVD like it was a real, physical PC and proceed from there as usual.

Alternatively: doesn't Vista already have a virtual Windows XP machine available?
I'm not sure if this is provided with it or if it's a free (Microsoft) download and I may be thinking of Windows 7 here anyway, but it could be worth checking out.
If it is available, you'll end up with the same thing as if you'd set up Virtual Box with Windows XP: an independent installation of Windows XP running under Vista.
I suspect you'll already have found that Vista will not run certain things directly, and I seriously doubt it can somehow be forced into doing so.
