Will the Sony Vaio NW11S work with Ubuntu?
Sounds stupid... I just want to make sure it works.
I found one person who tried it who said everything works fine.
My worry is, is that it has quick boot OS on it (it boots into an internet OS in like 3 seconds).
Will this rewin the laptop if I where to do a full format on it (I thought that maybe the quick os may have some importent stuff?)?
Just want to make sure it will work.

Have you tried booting a live CD to see what happens?
A full format isn't strictly required: you could shrink the existing partition to keep what's there and install Linux into a new one created in the freed space. I did this with an anonymous Taiwanese laptop running WinXP and kept both it and the pre-existing Windows recovery installation partition.
I'm not entirely sure now why I did that instead of just fully repartitioning and slapping Linux onto it, but there ya go...

Plus - tsk. :shameonyou: Google is (or should be) your friend:

I've not been through those results to find an answer for you - but know that laptops can be more of an issue than "ordinary" motherboards because of proprietary hardware manufacturers stuff into them.
From my brief exposure to a Vaio a few years ago I remember seeing some dinky screen surround-mounted controls and wondered whether anyone outside Sony knew how they worked. (well, aside from the usual "what the fsck are those for?")
