Local Science Fair Projects

Hey all,

A little history always helps problems... or so they say...

In 2005, I went to the Canada Wide Science Fair after winning all applicable prizes at my local science fair for the highschool level. It was an event that I loved, and want very much to repeat.

However, in 2006, as had happened in 2003 and 2004, I couldn't find a decent project to work on to take to the fair.

The same thing is happening this year I need something pretty soon, as the science fair rolls around pretty quickly, and most projects need a fair bit of time to work on. I'm hoping to draw on the collective knowledge of the group for ideas.

So, to help out, heres a list of things I'm interested/learned in:
-Computers, especailly operating systems (2005 project dealt with operating systems)
-Networking and network security (HUGE obsession of mine)
-Prototyping, logic circuits, microprocessors, embedded progrmaming, etc (last years failed project deealt with this)

Any ideas, no matter how ridiculous, will be entertained! Seriously though.. I need something soon...

What I recommend is that as you go through your day, keep an eye out for things you see that could be done better.

When you recognize something, write it down. Once you have collected 20-30 ideas, choose the one that you're are most qualified to attack, but also has enough complexity to demonstrate you skills.

Know anything about electromagnetic theory? From what I have read, a phasor can be constructed by using a laser to ionize the air and then producing a high voltage potential. If you have enough time to devote, anything is possible.
