How would you spend it in order to further the interests of the human species? The reason this is in Computers, Math, Science and Tech is because I'm thinking in terms of pure scientific advancement and I'd like to get a discussion based in science, not in politics.

First things first, slow down the use of all of those resources

Mandate all consumer plastic be made from one of only three recyclable plastics, and the container and lid must be of the same plastic.

Mandate nuclear energy as the preferred power source. (The only problems with nuclear power have been human error, or even employees disregarding of warnings! The fact the Japan reactors did not have an elevated three day backup storage tank of water above the reactor on a gravity flow system I see as human error.)

Hate to say it, but less meat, and more vegetables everybody...

Use existing surveillance technology to reward walking or bicycling to work and other places and reduce the use of oil. Face recondition is already used, why not get rewarded for walking to work in downtown London? A few cents off your taxes, or a tax-off card that you swipe at purchases to get your tax-off reward?

I'd probably invest a lot of resources into Space development, to look for resourceful planets and medical advancements.
Of course, at the moment the space stuff is a little far off, but I'd look into fusion as a possible power source.
And I'd eradicate money and allow the free trade of stuff around the planet. Bit like the old days, someone provides a service or something another needs in return for something they need.

In theory, it'd be a bit like the earth from star trek.

that's the way i'd go personally, can't say it would work though! :)

Nuclear power and *fast*. Fossil fuels will do no good for people.

Then, pour resources in to renewable energy. Tide, wind, solar, geothermal.

From there it would depend on what of the above succeeded and failed.

Less multi-million dollar reality shows about rich, spoiled housewives
More multi-million dollar space exploration projects

Less coal/oil
More nuclear/water/wind/solar/biotech

Less cars
More bikes

And since this thread said all of humanity's resources:
Reduce the defense budget of every country to 0 so no one can afford to kill each other
Put that money into support programs to fight hunger/poverty

Of course things aren't nearly so simple but it's a nice thought lol.
