One of my passionate (borderline obsessive) interests is in the field of Nuclear Energy. I could go on for days about the nuclear power plants in the US, and have even worked at one for some time. But anyway, today is a historic day for nuclear power in the United States. Today, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission will vote to approve the construction/operating license for two new reactors under construction in Georgia. If approved, it will be the first brand-new reactor license in decades, and the first two reactors of a new generation of reactor designs.

I am excited about this! I am keeping track of the news, and will probably celebrate somehow if they are approved today!

Hopefully we can turn them into fusion plants when we start mining Helium-3 from the moon. Its common for whatever reason up there, just need to get ourselves back in the space game.

Haha, yeah! That would be awesome...that will be the next generation of nuclear power, I hope. But in the meantime, I'm glad to see that we are moving forward with what we have, and yes, I will be celebrating tonight (though not sure how yet...)!

i wish denmark would invest in a next generation thorium reactor,
that would save up our wind energy for export to pay for the thorium.

Well, at least you have a good idea of the total cost of wind. We really don't know what the entire life-cycle cost of nuclear will be yet, considering we've yet to figure out how to dispose of the waste. That said, I support building one more generation of nuclear reactors to get us through until renewables are fully up to the task of powering our society.

Finally! Now if we could only begin following India in Thorium powerplants.
