Hello Friends!

I just got a new SSD from Kingston (HyperX 120gb SATA III) for my desktop to speed up boot time and some programs. I would like to not have to update all my drivers and find all my setting from my old HDD windows 7 account. Is there any way to effectively make an image of most of my account and transfer it to the SSD? I plan on keeping the old HDD for storage, and already have windows loaded onto the SSD with nothing else yet.

Also, should I make a partition for this on the SSD? Just for the OS and my profile? Using Windows 7 Home Premium, my full build can be found here:

Thanks so much :) I'm not good with software/programming yet, just hardware :\

This link seems to describe what you are trying to accomplish, but I have not used the procedure. You would need Acronis True Image or similar software.

I have to say Acronis does make it really easy. Some Kingston SSDs are supplied with a copy of it.

By the way, keep backups of any important data on the SSD. I have had some bad experiences with Kingston SSDNow SSDs. They tend to die without any warning, losing big chunks of data or simply refusing to boot. After killing three of them in about 18 months I have gone back to mechanical hard drives. They may be slower but they last longer and usually give some warning before dying.
