Hey!
I was just wondering how new new companies that have never made lets say a tablet before, make their machines motherboards? Where do they find the money? Where do they go to get the boards once they have got the money?
Thanks!

they use dev boards for protoypes and print a custom PCB once they have decided on form and function.

whast devboard you want depends on what chip you want to work with.

How much would all of this cost if we used... Lets say an Intel ATOM chip?

Since they're ARM powered, they would not be able to run "PC" software without a recompile, so they're not suitable as PC motherboards. However, if you don't mind linux or another open source OS, there several that you can buy, such as the Rasberry Pi. How cheap? Try $25
