Hey, a while ago i reached boiling point looking at those dumb videos and ads on the front page of youtube, aswell as the comments. I thought to myself; there must be a way to remove it! So after some searching i came across a browser extension called A Cleanr Youtube. This extension does this:

Frontpage is reduced a searchbar and your account on the right.
Videos have a button that hides Related Videos and Comments aswell as the video description.

So never again will you accidentally look around on the Youtube homepage and be disgusted by the content. Never have to read any dumb comments anymore, and also you don't have to pay attention to the related videos. I recommend this to everyone. I haven't been upset in months now by Youtube because of this simple extension. It works on Chrome, Firefox and possibly Internet Explorer, i'm not sure.

Search on google for A Cleanr Youtube. The site URL seems a little shady but it is safe and really worth it

I just use the ad-blocker on my Firefox browser. Not only just is block all those annoying and distracting ads on Neopets, but I don't have to put up with them on YouTube. Now if only I had something to block ads on TV...

It took me over a year to discover that there were actually ads on youtube thanks to adblock.

Edit: I like the dumb comments. It's not like they show up unless I scroll down. And I don't ever use the front page anyway, always start on favorites. :3

I also have Adblocker, it's invaluable. But for me the problem was i was always to curious to look at comments, or my eyes would wander across the Youtube front page.. I can't stand those videos where you see a guy that makes a dumb face, add a few stupid jokes and he got himself a video. I think he was named Smosh or something. There's plenty of those douchebags on youtube who think they provide great entertainment with lame jokes.

And i like SOME comments too, but there are just too many "352 people did xxxx" or the arrow in the knee joke. First time was funny, second too. Some time ago i stumbled upon my 3 billionth arrow in the knee joke and it pisses me off.

Yep, which is why I use adblockers for Firefox and Google Chrome.

what about the video ads that play before the youtube video? surely adblockers don't prevent this?

half the time when I encounter one, I'll just close the tab and do something else. I despise advertisements. propaganda!

I think if products can't sell themselves they shouldn't be sold at all. Ads have a negative effect on me, so they're not really getting anywhere anyways.

Yeah, they can be annoying.
I put up with it because it keeps such a brilliant service free.

I agree with you. But I only put up with the ones you can skip after 5 seconds.

-.- YouTube was never like this before! It mainly seems to happen on copyrighted videos, though. I like it when I can skip the adverts, but when I am faced with a very long ad that I can't skip, I seek another video.

I've also seen a lot of banner ads as well. This might be more or less because of Google acquiring YouTube. Maybe if YouTube was independent it wouldn't be like this.
