Is this the future of pc computing?
A massive worldwide filesharing and selling craze of beta-phase third-party operating systems for pc in order to avoid getting stuck with Windows 8 and it's monopoly?
Microsoft illegally buying over Linux and making it a part of windows just to avoid people using it as a quick and free Windows 8 replacement?
People creating hidden P2P networks to share old windows applications and indie games just to avoid getting stuck with todays sh***y overpriced/numbed-down "videogames" and out of nostalgia of the good old times?
Everybody using closed networks like darknet to connect to each other and keep their privacy?
Everybody will be a professional hacker and programmer out of distrust of the big companies?
Microsoft and Apple becoming one?
How about more people in the future will go outside instead of sitting in front of the computer?
I used to be obsessed with this stuff but I burned out recently.
To seriously answer your question, I think Ubuntu will be more prominent in the near future as it's more stable, user friendly and for free.
Actually, I won't be surprised if MS starts giving away their OS. They already give away Windows 8 Preview which I'm using. It works fine, it's stable as hell, and it's full-featured, not stripped down at all.

Even though Microsoft is giving it away, I still won't use it as my main operating system. However, it will probably be good for gamers. As far as alternative computer networks are concerned, I see them flourishing, especially since there is so much effort from governments and big business to regulate what we have. It is relatively easy to build a mesh network, especially in the cities and other populated areas.

Let's take this one by one, shall we?
When Microsoft releases a product that is so awful that non-tech people want to ditch it, they search for alternatives - but so far that's happened twice, once with Windows ME, and again with Vista - and Microsoft didn't lose any appreciable market share long term anyway (although, Apple did extremely well for itself as a result of the Vista fiasco). So, I very much doubt that scenario will ever come to pass.
There's nothing to buy. Microsoft may very well do what Apple did and re-write their OS based on a Linux or BSD model, but that wouldn't mean Linux/BSD ceases to exist, and doing that would be in the better interest of the computing industry as a whole. There's also nothing illegal about it.
This already exists right now, though just because there's a market for old games, emulators, etc - doesn't mean those same people don't play current-gen games. Game companies have started to realize this - which is why there have been a ton of old games ported and released on current-gen systems.
Stop using terms you don't understand. A darknet is a concept, not a thing - you can't use it as a noun. And the concept of a darknet for privacy falls flat on it's face the bigger the network is, so no - this isn't going to catch on either.
The people who are aware enough of what is going on around them are always going to be in such a minority that they are nearly insignificant. The privacy problems that exist today have always existed, in one form or another - and they will continue to exist forever. On a fundamental level humanity will sacrifice privacy for convenience continually.
The days where this was a possibility have long since past.
