How come laser disk readers are now faster?

So I checked the computers in a circular, and now the DVD readers are 24x and blu-ray readers 14x; this is greater that the speed that have been allowed so far to laser disks readers, (52x for CD, 16x for DVD and 8x for blu-ray) as getting faster would go beyond the disks resistance. What is going on? Is there a new innovation that allow to spin the disks faster without breaking them?
