Easiest forum to design for?

Hey!
I love to do web development but when it comes to coding themes for forums like PHPBB I dont really like it as it looks very complex (I have had a shot and it is).
Im trying to merge a forum into a design I made my self. I need a Forum engine which is really easy to code themes for.
I have already coded my own forums from scratch, but I have large concerns for security of my own.
Any ideas?
I am okish at HTML and CSS. Im rather good at PHP (if you saw me do PHP coding you might beg to differ! )
MyBB looks easy enough to author themes for. Thoughts?
