Hi I have built a web site that accessess a database via webservices. The database is sqlserver.

I don't know if this is feasible but does anyone know how easy it would be for me to get someone to host all of this?

I could try to do myself but would like to know if any of these web hosting sites would host a database as well.

Um, yes. Databases are fairly common.

I know they are common but I am wondering if web hosting will only host the website and charge a lot more for database hosting.

I'm not sure you will have much luck.

I think if you want someone to host your website, you have to build your website around the tools that the hosting service provides. Doing it the other way around will severely limit your choices.

Most of the well establised and trustworthy web hosting services I have seen are php/mysql based. There may be an obscure web hosting service that supports the technologies you want, but who knows whether you can trust them or not.

However, I am by no means an expert in web hosting. Maybe someone else can give you a better answer.

What do people normally pay for web hosting?

Finding a web host is not terribly difficult. There are thousands of them. You're asking questions that are very easily answered by googling around and looking at web hosting companies websites.

Yeah I know I was a bit lazy with my initial question but I want to hear others experience with web hosting companies. I found a few that will do SQL server and don't charge very much, less than £100 a year, which I thought was cheap.

I am wondering if it is reliable.

Thanks for your helpful google link ;-)

There are plenty advertising in magazines like Linux Format - $60 per year will give you hosting, SQL, pre-formatted blog / product pages, multiple email and a web-based control panel. There are detailed reviews in PC Mag http://www.pcmag.com/category2/0,2806,2269,00.asp

You could just buy a domain and hosting server for the files then upload the site through FTP.
Then export your SQL db to an .SQL file and import it into your new hosts SQL database.
I would Recommend that you choose 123-reg or 1&1. From what o have read they are very good. Good luck! :-)
