Hey!
I have pretty much finished developing a forum for a Minecraft server.
The forum is completely my code. What do I do about TOS and Priv Policies?
Do I need them? Would anyone be able to sue me if a hacker got into the databases and leaked info?
Thanks!

I'd check to see what similar sites have - that should give a good idea of how it's generally handled, otherwise: hire yourself a lawyer and have him tell you at cost! 8O

It may also depend on what country the database / server is held in. In the UK for example you would have to be compliant with the "Data Protection Act" and if someone hacked into your server and stole personal information you could find yourself prosecuted.

Only a lawyer can advise you what your potential liabilities are.

It has been many years since I was involved with the Data Protection Act, but you may be OK provided the information you hold about your members isn't of a personal nature. Once you cross the bridge of holding anything like an address or phone number you have to be compliant. As already mentioned, only a lawyer can give you up to date and correct information. I'm hopelessly out of date now.

I vaguely remember those long horrible complicated forms to fill in regarding the nature of the data stored and justifiable reasons for doing so and the security in place to protect that data.... yada, yada, yada. I hate form filling.
