For some reason, the part of the DVD player that holds the DVD in place while you watch it broke when one of my DVDs got stuck and I pulled it out forcefully. Does anyone know how to fix it so it will work or should I buy a new one?

If its a cheapie then its not worth fooling with but if you are really fond of it, try finding another model similar to it and swapping out the mechanical section entirely. Once you take the cover off it will be clear as to whether or not you have a match. There are only a few screws and maybe a half dozen connectors. Label them clearly and do the swap and I bet you will be back in business again.

Thanks. I'll try to buy a new one; I think if I tried to take that part apart I would break it because of my motor skill issues.

You should just be able to push it back down on the shaft of the motor. Most DVD player spindles are just held onto the motor shaft with friction
