Hey!
I was just looking into more info on game development. I heard allot of games use Python along with obviously something like C++ for the engine... Do you really think Python is worth learning?

Python is worth learning if you want to make maximum use of Blender.

In case you're wondering thats a freeware alternative to Maya. The user interface has a high barrier to entry for beginners but it has its own game engine.

Blender can be used as a all in one game development tool if you know Python. Its a high level language though so its not as powerful as C++ or C#.

In terms of games development, maybe. Depends on what sort of work you gravitate towards; for example: for browser games that are self-contained in a user-agent it's not directly useful.

It's not half bad for modeling various kinds of computing problems though. So it may not help with all forms of game development but it's probably not a bad one to spend time with in order to get experience with programming.

You may or may not want to learn programming. If you do, learn Python before you learn C++ or whatever else (Unreal Script, etc). Just remember that if you go in on that side, you might get pigeon-holed as a programmer and get no creative input.
