In the past I could display Google Calendar on Windows 8, now I can not, I do not know who is responsible for that Google or Microsoft.

Maybe the app needs an update? Look at the FAQ? Post a support question on the Google site?

Google decided to be d*cks and disable ActiveSync support. That is most likely why your contacts and calender aren't updating on Windows Phone 7/8 and Windows 8. Your only solution (if you aren't on RT) is to download a third party calender app off of the Internet that supports CalDAV. And don't try Office either. Google nixed support for Outlook calendar as well.
