Where is the best place to start blogging?

I would like to improve my writing and develop some ideas that could use some feedback. I see that there are lots of
communities out there, but I am not sure how to discriminate between them.

The two things that I would like are:

1. It be free, yet have some built in readership.
2. I am no kid, so it should be more of adult-leaning site. By that I mean, it should be more about discussing ideas and not attached to a social site.

Sometimes, I think I am one of the few aspies that didnt fall in love with the internet. For years, I barely used it for more than a research tool and exchange of e-mails. I am much more a nature freak. I seem to run a few years behind on everything. Now I see something like twitter and wonder why anyone would consider using it. A few yrs from now when everyone is using it, I'll need to figure it out.

I use Wordpress. Check out My blog. I post new entries whenever I feel like it.
