Intel HD graphics 4000 (1GB)?

After 4 months of dealing with what was likely an undiagnosed failing GPU, my Macbook was finally (but reluctantly) replaced with the same model. It is a mid-2012 13.3 inch, and it has the GPU in the title.

I am loving my new (sort of) machine, but I can't help but worry that if the problem was a defect, it could recur. I'm hoping not, especially since I opted out of another warranty.

I've heard that my constant video streaming might be damaging to my weak GPU, but I watch a couple of shows I can't see any other way. I don't see why I should have to worry about streaming, which is a common practice now. However, should I?

BTW, I don't game at all. Just saying.

I don't think video streaming can damage your GPU; as a rule of thumb, nothing that runs in user-space can. There are errors in production with GPUs, just like any other piece of hardware. Futhermore, computers aren't made to last longer than 3-4 years these days.

While streaming video is GPU intensive, the issue that you would most likely have is the GPU overheating. Then again, the only computer that I had this issue with was a POS Compaq that was known for having poor thermal management. --Chances are high that this will not be an issue for you with the computer that you have.
