I use Linux Mint for programming in C/C++ and Java. It works fine, but after a suspend wakeup it always (with no exception) freezes. I know for a fact that I have the right drivers (AMD Catalyst and the latest Intel drivers) and according to /var/log/syslog, everything is "fine" apart from the touchpad drivers (which I'm looking into now). It seems as if the kernel enters an infinite loop, as I am unable to move the cursor and I do not get any error messages. Trying to switch to the terminal with Ctrl-Alt-F1 is also impossible.

Anyone who've had experience with this who knows what to do?

Turns out that it was a bug in the kernel (in your face, fanboys!). The problem was solved after installing 3.14.4 (allthough Cinnamon isn't compatible with 3.14.x yet). After you install the latest kernel update, Mint will open in the terminal and tell you that X server isn't configured. Run "sudo Xorg-configure" and copy /home/[username]/xorg.conf.new to /etc/X11/xorg.conf. This will allow you to start X by running "startx". After this Cinnamon will start in safety mode, even with the latest drivers.
