Is Don Lancaster really a famous engineer in the US? Is he even an engineer or is he just a hobbyist who works as a forest ranger? I have a few of his books but very few people in electronics circles in Britain have heard of him.

His article Some Energy Fundamentals is full of bizarre and ridiculous economic theories although the physics and engineering is basically sound.

A number of decades ago he wrote a lot of articles in magazines such as Popular Electronics and Byte. So I guess he was kind of "geek famous" back then. SWTPC (South West Techinical Products Corp.) made some of his designs into kits.
