Anyone here using a DESKTOP email client (ie. not web email like hotmail, gmail, etc.) they really like? I've been using Outlook Express at home for a long time and am getting tired of its limitations like all the hoops you have to jump through to see email headers. I'm currently trying Mozilla Thunderbird but so far I'm not impressed and plan on going back to OE. So I would appreciate some recommendations from those of you that are still dinosaurs like me and still download email to a desktop client. TIA

Thunderbird is very good to block spam !
It's not active by default but it take around 2 minutes to configure it.
You can use it to read your webmail too, with a plugin (XPI)

I like Microsoft Outlook 2000.

Mail is also pretty good.

I use mail.app and Thunderbird. While not impressive, Thunderbird is easy to work with and it does its job. I used to use Outlook 2002/03 but it hung a lot and it was really hard to configure. There's the Windows Live Mail client, I've never used it and I never would, but it sounds like you only want M$ stuff.

I've used a few in the past. Outlook has always found ways to annoy me.

I used the Mozilla suite for many years, and now I use its reincarnation as Seamonkey. That's because I like it all integrated: browser, email, html editor, address book. Also, I use it all from both Windows and Linux - with all my mail kept in one place.

That's what I use. Works well enough for me.

I also use MailWasher to screen my email before downloading.

I'm pretty satisfied with Mozilla T-Bird.
No frills e-mail clients works best for me (and it's more efficient than the Outlook Web Client I use at work!)

I use outlook. It's nice once it's open but takes quite a while to load.
