Why does technological progress need to be so pervasive?

Why does technological change need to be so pervasive to the point where traditional crafts become obsolete? I'm kind of annoyed with technological change sometimes. I know that 35mm film and photos are extinct for one. You can't find cheap 35mm film photo or movie prints today. Even movie chains stopped projecting 35mm movie prints with a few exceptions.
I'm sorry for being too "emotion" and not enough "reason" but I'm having a bad day. I just want to know, is anyone else getting annoyed at the pervasive nature of technology just a little bit.

The answer is simple....MONEY.
Tech. change and the roll-out of new tech is a well-understood business cycle based on maximizing profit.
Nothing else matters.
MONEY is EVERYTHING...THE ONLY THING.
