it says my password is incorrect and I also can't sign onto IM. I even tried to reset it and it says it couldn't be reset online so I had to contact yahoo customer service. I am still waiting to hear back from them.

Has anyone ever had this problem?

I have not had any yahoo problems since high school so I have had this email address for over ten years. it sucks this is happening again because this was how I lost online friends because I didn't know how to spell their yahoo ID so therefore I could not re add them again and I never kept a journal because I didn't think this would happen again because it hadn't in a real long time.

Was my account hacked or did they delete it or close it for me?

Maybe you (or someone else) changed your keyboard settings so when you try to type a special character like " the output is "é".

If that is not the case it is likely that your account has been compromised. If you have credit card information or bank information linked to that account you should be very worried. If not, make another account. Perhaps on a more secure platform. Make your passwords longer and more secure, Diceware is a great tool for generating secure and easy-to-remember passwords. Also, always use 2FA if that is an option.

Nah, this is a yahoo problem. I have an old yahoo e-mail from the late 90's and this has happened to me more than once. I only use that e-mail for spam anymore. Lesson is, ditch yahoo for your primary e-mail and go with a more stable competitor.

What does it mean it has been compromised? Deleted, closed? I had no credit card information on it. I even had a fake name on it too.

I started going around changing my email addresses on each site I have used that email address with. I also use password generators since I suck with making up passwords so I use that and then write it down along with the website name.

My only issue is online friends and I was talking to one of them just recently and I don't even know his username because he had random numbers at the end. Oh well. The rest I hadn't seen around in a while and the other two I have on facebook and the other one I talk to on another forum and one of them comes here so I contacted him here to let her know and I hope she logs back in here. if not, I can download AIM again and hope she messages me there again. She uses a different screen names and keeps changing them.

But always write down usernames so I can re add them again in case I lose my account.
