I've noticed recently, maybe it's done this for awhile, not sure, that when I start Firefox, I get some kind of space on the right side for about a second and then it goes away.

I have the exact same profile on another computer, same bookmarks and add-ons, instead on the other computer, the bar at the top goes white for a split second or a 1 second at most.

One interesting thing I've noticed, that I've did a fresh start, moved the old by rename the Firefox folder .mozilla.old.

It didn't do that until I imported the bookmarks. This is what I see:

Run Firefox in safe mode. If the issue is not occurring, it most likely means your extensions were causing it.

If running it in safe mode does not work, uninstall and reinstall. Good advice as a first or early step for troubleshooting any software. If that does not work go back to an earlier version of the software.

I haven't used Ubuntu since forever but try this,

Code:
sudo apt-get purge firefox

You might want to backup your bookmarks before this next step, either backup your entire profile folder in ~/.mozilla/firefox or backup only the file containing your bookmarks which is places.sqlite in your profile folder. Once you have backed up your data in a way that satisfies you, delete the following folders in your home directory.

.mozilla
.macromedia
.adobe

The files are hidden, please make sure you can view hidden files.

then

Code:
sudo apt-get install firefox
