I'm looking at a refurbed Dell laptop that has this as its processing specs-
Intel Core i5 2520M 2.5Ghz.

I already have a MUCH older Dell laptop that has this as its specs-
Intel(R) Core(TM)2Duo CPU T7500 @ 2.20GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.2GHz

2.2 vs 2.5 wouldn't be a really big difference, but the newer one has an i5.

How much faster is it than the older machine? How do you figure this out now?

You seem to have both Aspie and neurotypical traits

What would these results mean? Been told here I must be a "half pint".

It's the overall speed of the CPU that matters. Here are the speeds results for each CPU

Intel Core2 Duo T7600
CPU Mark: 1275 - Single Core - 764

https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cp ... 40+2.20GHz

Intel Core i5 2520M
CPU Mark: 3557 - Single Core - 1498

https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cp ... 40+2.50GHz

So even though the i5 is only marginally faster speed wise is should perform twice as fast.

They calculate these figures by doing common operations. You can download the software from the cpuenchmark site and try it your self. As those scores above are averages based on many results from people.

Put this into Google:

Core i5 2520M 2.5Ghz vs Core2 Duo CPU T7500

I like cpuboss and cpu-world, but of the two only cpuboss returned your exact pair.

http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core2-Duo ... e-i5-2520M

Performance will be between two and four times better with the i5 specified.
