After my successful first build, restoring an old Gateway computer case with a new motherboard, processor, power supply and hard drive, I'm seriously thinking about doing it again, this time from scratch. Gonna actually BUY a case and build from there. :)

I'm looking at another motherboard that combines the old and new. As with the Gateway case build, this new one has USB 2, USB 3, but even TWO old style PS2 ports (which will be nice for an old keyboard and mouse I still have).

Thing is, this motherboard is built for an AMD processor, and I don't know if that requires a different type of Power Supply. Are the connectors different, or can I just buy the same Power Supply I got last time, and have that work with an AMD "flavored" motherboard?

Thank you, ahead of time, for your help.

You seem to have both Aspie and neurotypical traits

What would these results mean? Been told here I must be a "half pint".

Nope, Intel and AMD systems both use the same type of power supplies. Now, since AMD CPUs typically have higher TDPs, you'll want to use a somewhat beefier power supply. Make sure whatever you buy has official 80+ certification, as this will ensure quality.

The Gateway case build was given a 500W power supply.

Would that be good enough? :P
