For today's Throwback Thursday, June 9, 2016, here is a compilation of a couple of videos featuring EVERY Windows start-up sound, from the early days right on up until 8; sadly, the start-up sound was discontinued after the current version, 10. So, here is a trip down memory lane for you all........ and some of these sounds I get a little wistful thinking about.

I like the ones from 3.1, 95, 98, 2000, ME and XP.

Oh God Windows 2000...

My whole teenage years, I never upgraded to XP. So Windows 2000 was my version of Windows all they way until Windows 7. Its actually not that limited compared to XP however I didn't use Windows 2000 the whole time. I went Windows 2000 -> Ubuntu -> Windows 7 -> Arch Linux in a nutshell though there were a few others and even a few times without a decent computer at all but those where short time periods.

Some examples, when I was 16-17, I was stuck with a 400 Mhz computer running Puppy Linux cause my main computer got destroyed. All I did on that was Open Arena and Internet. Plus when I brought my current computer, it had a bad video card so I was stuck with a Raspberry Pi running Arch Linux for a few months. It was model one so all I did with it was 16-bit gaming until my desktop came in the mail.

I also recall my computer being taken away for punishment a few times as a teenager nearly always for violating my parents rule on bringing R-rated material into the house. That was my favirote rule to break in the fact I really didn't care and never had an intention of obeying that rule.

Windows 10 does have a startup sound, though it's disabled by default. It sounds just like the one from Vista and 7 (8 also? I never had Windows 8).

By the way, the Windows 2000/ME sound is my favorite.

NT and 2000 are cool, but 95 is the nicest (i've never used it though)
i don't like the vista/7/8, maybe it's because i hear it everyday.
