Has anyone here done the swap from a Windows computer to a Mac computer? If so, would you say it was definitely worth it? There seem to be a lot of for/against arguments on the web regarding both, which leaves me in a No Man's land of indecisiveness!
In this light, what decided you when choosing your computer?

I made the switch 2 years ago and I am glad that I did. My experience with apple's products have been great. I love the touchpad features of mac and i love the continuity between their products. My watch, iPhone 7+, and laptop all speak the same language and work together in harmony. I also like that Apple seems to be a little more concerned about the privacy of my information. I know they collect information too, but at lease with Apple and third party app/software providers I have a choice for most of them.

Their products are expensive but from my point of view they are well worth it. I have an ion classic that is 9 years old and still works great. My laptop is two years old and works just as good as it did the day I bought and I suspect it will for many years to come. I use it primarily for recording music and work applications.

As long as Apple in business, they will have at least one customer.

If the windows platform had frustrated you to your breaking point...I say make the switch. Shark

I did the switch back in Y2k back when there really was a differance between the two systems. I liked the fact that I was no longer running Windows and Linux still wasn't quite useable as a desktop OS yet, but there were some downsides.

Unfamliar system with Open Firmware instead of BIOS.
Upgrading the system's drive was absolutely impossible to do without completely pulling the clamshell apart, with a somewhat specialised Torx driver. (Laptop system)

Now Apples are x86 machines, just like a Dell, HP, or whatever. About the only real differances are the case design, (about like any of the above mentioned maufacturer's business class systems) the OS, (Mach Microkernel using the BSD Userland tools, and a proprietary WM that is X11 compatible) and PSU Line Wart interconnects, which are incompatible wit anybody else's. Windows can also be installed alongside MacOS.

Before going out and spending a lot of money on a Mac, try running Linux, which is somewhat similar to the internals of MacOS. --Of course, if you get an Apple, you can also install a Linux Distro alongside MacOS to get a feel for the differances between the two.
