With my aspergers, I've done some amazing things that other people wouldn't even dream being possible. Of all the things I've done, here's a short list, not in any particular order:

1. Made my old IBM computer from the 80's, with it's monochrome monitor, play DVD movies.

2. Hacked my Sega Genesis with Component HD video output (picture appears sharper with better color, but of course, no increase in screen resolution, just better defined picture)

3. Built my own Nintendo console from those little "Nintendo on a chip" things, and it works good (not great), but does play famous games, and is in stereo too...

4. Modified my Atari 2600 to work with my iPod to load games from (im told this is legal because the games are now abandonware, so i hope they never lied to me)

5. Modified one of my TVs to add a drop shadow to the on-screen-display (was an experiment to see if it could be done)

6. And finally for my small list, built a circuit that allows me to start my car, from inside the house. :p That was a fun trick too, but works great (most of the time)

Impressive. I'd like to build a new game system using all the other parts from the older game consoles and building it into one console and it plays all the games on it. But I don't know how I'd put it all together.

you'd have to learn how the console you want to build, works in the first place.

what i did was build the console exactly with all 1st party parts, essentially making a 100% copy, then slowly try and use less and less parts, replacing and removing parts, but keeping functionality. Then, after I learned the system, completely build one from scratch, totally differernt from the original..

Nice to see that hardware hacking is still alive and well. Now, regarding that circuit you created that starts your car from your house.

1) Well done.

2) Make sure you have a sensor that disables the circuit if the car is in gear (sense for Park or Neutral if it's an automatic)

3) Make sure you have a sensor that disables the circuit if the park brake / handbrake is off.

The idea is that your modifications should be fail safe.

My car only starts with it it Park anyway. The sensor I did need to use though, was to make sure the circuit stopped the engine turned over, it checks one of the spark plugs, multiples the number by 8 (i drive a V8), and then checks for a certain RPM before it disengages. Another thing I had to bypass though, was the "Pass Lock". Luckily with a diode, I can bypass it for the remote start, while allowing the Pass Lock to still work for a direct key start.
