Recommendations for a good desktop rss reader required please.

I'm currently using Feed demon,which is no longer updated. When it works it's fine , but it 'hangs' a lot (blue wheel spinning round for ages). I checked out Sharp reader but it needs the .net framework , which for some reason I can't download.

I need something that's good , but simple to use. Thanks for any help given.
