Question about gaming pc parts

I have a "gaming" desktop. It was a pre-build for a fairly low price of less than $500. Everything works for me, except my bigger games like Skyrim. With Skyrim, I can turn the graphics to the very minimum and everything, but it still doesn't run smoothly. There is alot of lag with moving and stuff. Some input lag. I looked into my graphics card, and I guess it is a good one. I don't know the specifics unless I go look. But I just want to know what kinds of things/parts that would cause these problems with games like Skyrim?

Skyrim is both CPU and GPU intensive. I don't think you would get much of a gaming PC for $500 unless maybe it was used. Can you list the specific parts(CPU/GPU/Memory) you have in your PC for us?
Go to your start menu in Windows and type "run" to open the command prompt then type in "msinfo32" which will tell you what components you have in your computer really easily.
https://www.ccleaner.com/speccy This program will show you a bit more information than the method above.
