Dark Mode on Macbook Chrome

Hi all,

I've always used an extension called Dark Reader on my Macbook, to make all sites have a dark or black background with white lettering. I don't know if this was a coincidence but following the security problem we had here recently, I can't get the same look I had before for WP, even if I try different extensions or settings. I've tried Display, Accessibility, and the general "Dark Mode" feature which doesn't make anything dark except the top of my screen.

For a few days Dark Reader was putting a bright white border around the WP site, which was black. Now I managed to get it all black using Dark Reader but I noticed that YouTube videos come out inverted no matter what I do.


Here's an example of WP with Dark Reader. The video is inverted colour even if I change my YT settings.





When I watch YT normally without linking it to WP, it looks totally fine whether on dark screen or white.

I've never had this issue before and it's driving me insane.

Any ideas about what I'm doing wrong?

I've tried all the other Chrome extensions I can find and none of them look as nice as Dark Reader.

After installing, there is also a white border around my screen when I am on this website (WP). How did you manage to get rid of yours?

The white border only appears on the web page when I am in threads, but on the forum home page, with all the forums by category, the white border disappears...

I use a dark mode plugin that is for google chrome on Opera GX

With the plugin:
with some site I have to tell it to exclude like twitch and youtube that can be done by right clicking on the site and excluding site option and to change the dark mode theme the plugin on/off switch can be right clicked and go to options for change style in classic themes. The theme I have selected is amoled dark on my tablet PC

I ended up getting mine dark again on Dark Reader like before but it took a lot of fiddling.
It's not bad except for the big white stripes which didn't used to be here.





It took FOREVER to get it working though.
I don't know why it died after having it for years.

That may be the way it acts with the html commands for div do you get the white lines on the bottom as well. I am looking at the page source for the site your way maybe the way is is handling the html div command.

the plug in I use I think override the sites style script on Client side completely

It used to be a lot prettier on Dark Reader. I'm not sure if I have a screenshot of how it looked before but the black sides of the WP page had gradients of blue and teal. I miss that.

I can't open that link Carl because of Ad Blocker. I disabled my ad blocker but it still won't let me open it.

I already have "dark mode" on my chrome as well because without it the menu thing at the top of Google pages was always white.

Sorry I don't know how to answer those other questions about html div. I'm computer brain-dead.

Here's the old way it looked for years using Dark Reader.
When we had the invasion my page went all white and it never came back to this.

This isn't the best example of the blue gradient, but you get the idea.
I could fiddle it lighter and darker or more teal.

I just tried it.
That's what I was doing when I started this thread.
It took me back to this, with the %£$%@ WHITE edges.
