I got my printer from a friend who gave me my computer... but my friend forgot a IEEE cord but it
can use USB also but when I try to use it a Message comes up saying "can't establish a two way communtion with the Printer" if it helps the printer is a HP Photosmart 1000, my HP Digital camara won't work at all when I plug it in to my computer at all. Help please.

Hmm I wonder if USB support needs to be turned on in BIOS. Which you usually get to by hitting some key at boot time(delete key on my computer).

no they work fine I use them for a HP photo printer

If your computer isn't too old, connect the printer to an USB port in the back, those will more surely be USB 2.

Uninstall the printer's drivers, make sure you have the latest ones from HP. Reinstall them and if you see an option like "install drivers now and connect printer later", select it. Try to connect the printer after it finishes.
