I got the problem fixed and i`m on the net right now. All i had to do with put in the gateway key off the router. I might want to ask this however. If i got a good antivirus should i worry about using windows 98.

I would at least go with 2000. But either way, you need AV and firewall, and ALWAYS use a third party browser, NEVER IE.

Just use firefox: www.getfirefox.com
And AVG free: http://free.grisoft.com/

And you should be ok.

Actually, older versions of windows are probably SAFER.

You're probably better off just installing linux though.

Presuming that you don't play
games which would run better
in the native OS, of course.

the wireless card might have a problem with linux to,would need to check compatibility list first.
