I installed xubuntu from a minimal install. The iso was 9.1 megs. My install size is 1.7 gigs! Since this is on a 2 gig pen drive, I'd like to reduce it. I have cleaned all the debs(near as I can tell), removed the games and stuff.. all thats on there is gimp(I need that), firefox(might switch to lynx) and some other stuff like abiword and trhe system tools. Gnome is removed.

I have a hard drive install of the SAME setup, and its only 400 megs. What am I overlooking? Can someone advise me on how to shrink this?

By minimal I'm assuming that you used the network installs? These are minimal and allow you to install whatever package you desire.
