HTML editor-nvu
if anyone is looking for a good free html editor checkout NVU
Finally! A complete Web Authoring System for Linux desktop users as well as Microsoft Windows and Macintosh users to rival programs like FrontPage and Dreamweaver. Nvu (which stands for "new view") makes managing a web site a snap. Now anyone can create web pages and manage a website with no technical expertise or knowledge of HTML.
also if i'm not mistaking theres alot of cool extras.
and if think it's from mozilla, (firefox) I also use it too.
NVU
Thanks for reminding me. I think I downloaded it, a little while back (or was it on my Linux Format magazine DVD?)... but hadn't got around to trying it out.
I did actually try it out, a while back. Like... I had version 0.80, which I downloaded 20050211.
I've used the Mozilla HTML editor forever. Originally built into Mozilla suite, then dropped, then re-introduced to Seamonkey, which I was using yesterday on a web page. NVU is an offshoot that the Firefox team set in motion, I think, when they realised they couldn't live without an editor. I'll hope NVU is not so badly fragmented as the Firefox/Thunderbird/Sunbird/etc bunch.
NVU certainly appears superficially much more functional than what I use at present (publishing pages is very basic in Seamonkey), but will it compete in the DOM inspector, Java console, Web Developer areas? I'll find out.
PS. Comparing NVU with Frontpage? Argh! How I hate that program. Totally invalid and garbage html - that sometimes works in IE - if you're lucky.
