Any coders here can make a USB driver work in winxp64?

I have a driver for a specialized astrophotography USB camera that works only in winxp32bit.

when plugged into winxp64 system the computer will detect it only as 'USB CAMERA' not as the brand name camera that winxp32 detects it at (and it wont find or install the driver on winxp64 anyways).

The obvious solution is to dual boot my system but I cannot afford to reformat my hard disk to make a 2nd partition for it.

I cannot network the device to run it from another computer in my house because the telescope HAS to be connected to my winxp64 system (location issue).

Running USB cables from my winxp32 system to my telescope would be very expensive (40+ft)

Ive tried VirtualBOX VM's and got the driver to install under winxp32VM but the moment I tell the program to access the camera it locks up and doesnt work (unplugging the USB does un-lock it).


And my only other option is to buy a 2nd hard drive and run winxp32 on it and manually swap the drives when i'll use my scope.


sigh. All because one little 20kb driver doesnt work. And the company that makes the camera doesnt even respond nor make a 64 bit driver for it

It'd probably be very difficult since all those dirty hacks do no longer work in 64 bits... especially seeing that there's no source code. There are programs to resize NTFS partitions, but I am not sure whether Windows can be in a second partition....

What's the Camera's name?

Seems to work under *nix. If you have a cd and/or dvd drive then try booting this liveCD, and fiddling around with kstars.
