I only got my macbook pro this month so I am still learning how to use it... I thought I'd ask here first before find a special mac forum to see if anyone can advise.

The problem is the software update, it just does not install. I follow the instructions it gives and it restarts itself and begins the installation or whatever. However it never progresses any further than about less than a 10th installed - I left it for 12 hours and it didn't move...

Confused!

macvista WOOHOO! :P

The only trouble I have had with my updates on my macbook (not a pro), is in rebooting it.
Sometimes it sits blank screen for what seems like a looooong time until it finally boots up again.

Could it be your internet connection, modem, or computer settings for things like sleep, etc.?

Sorry I'm not more help.

My MacBook Pro gets updates fine... Maybe it's your internet connection? Are you using wireless internet? If so you may want to try directly connecting, for the update at least that way you can get 10.5.2 which has wireless related fixes.

I think i'm just going to wait until the next update as I'm still having no joy - and no the internet connection isnt the cause as I am plugged in.

You should try to download the "combo" update instead and see if that works:
