maybe it's just me
but for some reason especially test wise
i am terrible with analysis and constructing proofs

a lot of time it feels like i could have used another hour for exams
because they always seem so insanely obvious but when it comes time to write it down
i get all discombobulated
calculus and physics and most chemistry and even accounting is a breeze
but as soon as a proof shows up or something that needs analyzing
i'm screwed

this also followed me into biochemistry
it's crazy because it's not even my concentration but i took part 2 anyway because i felt a bit defeated by the first one
the assignments are just like analysis
it looks obvious but the more i look at it sometimes the more confused i get
i just don't know what to say
but the incoherent puzzling confusion is a major part of why i'm drawn to it
like, i need to be able to master it for no apparent reason

anybody relate to any of this?
or i'm just a donkey
better yet, did anybody go from this to figuring out some magical way to overcome it

I've had trouble with analysis in the case of geometry (mind you this was when I was a sophmore in High School) Then again that usually resulted in me discovering the wrong identity (pre-calculus) or making a SMM (silly math mistake). Organic Chemistry wasn't that hard until I had to deal with a weird spectrum for analysis. Circuit analysis during Electrical Engineering undergrad got a little annoying at times because it felt like it went right over my head. But then again teachers can (sometimes) help straighten things out.

Oh! But there you have it. That's the mark of a true thinker.

Anyone can pick up a few rules and suchlike, and churn out passable answers. Only those who truly understand something can go further.

If anything catches my attention, I have to go the whole way to total mastery. Then I can stop. Anything less, and it just doesn't feel right.

Whenever I try to define "walk," my brain implodes.

Whatever you do, don't try to define "define" then!

haha
i think i have actually

yeah, with any subject
i get a range of books the dumbed down to many middle ones and higher ones
and i remember getting some proof things and i'm almost positive the one i really like because it read well was called "how to prove it"
maybe...
it was a white books and had some smudged pencil markings on the cover and i think the title was maroon
that book?

i can do proofs
but i just really have to stare at it for a while
so when i only have so much time for a bunch
i end up giving crappy effort to them all

i'm gonna get back to that stuff though, that's a good idea
thanks

Work backwards. Starting with the conclusion, ask what would have to be true to make the conclusion true.
