While today, there are many sorts of adventure games out there, only the geeks will remember how it all started - or that it started exactly 31 years ago. The first adventure game was textmode-only, ran on computers which had less RAM than modern computers L2 cache and is called ADVENT or Colossal Cave.

Let's celebrate this occasion by playing one of the versions ported to modern computers: on Linux, it suffices to install the package bsd-games, users of other OSes this site http://www.wurb.com/if/game/1 has a lot of different versions and even links to sites where you can play it online.
