AIM question

I have AIM, and it has that AIM dashboard website where you can see whether someone is online or not. I have a friend, and it says he is offline on AIM, but says he's online on AIM dashboard. What's the deal?

I'm not sure about the dashboard thing, but it's possible he's either blocked you or set himself as invisible.

This is not good, and I consider this friend to be a good one as well.

And I know I did nothing to scare this person away, at least not intentionally. This just happened out of the blue.

Then it's very possible he just has himself set as invisible to everyone - don't be too quick to assume he blocked you. It could all just be a misunderstanding!

yeah, I'm going through this myself with one of my similar friends.

Do you often engage them when you see them online? Perhaps they're trying to do something, and know you specifically are going to sidetrack them.

/dunno. My therapist just threw that one out among others.

He might be invisible because they're ignoring someone OTHER than you. I do this all the time but I use Pidgin pretty much the same though. I even set my account idle time to stave away my cousin, while talking to my girlfriend and others. Is that rude?

I do the same thing, malithion. I don't think it's rude, it's better than being in a conversation you don't want to be in with someone who 'needs' to talk to you!

Tim, just remember it could be all sorts of other things, I doubt he's ignoring you if he hasn't given you any signs of it!
