Which screensaver do you use?

I use Big Kahuna Reef 2. I love the fish and the sunken statues. It's as good as having an aquarium - and no cleaning!

(We used to have a real aquarium, but all the fish died.)

I use the 3D flying objects. I really like the OLD one from Windows 98SE but the one with Windows XP is okay. I'll buy another Windows 98SE CD-ROM so that I can have it again.

win xp i use the win xp defaut one with black screen and random placement of windows xp home edition showing up every 5 seconds,

vista home premium, i use an aquarium screensaver by aquazone (lifelike fishtank)

win 2000 pro, differant colored pipes going all over the screen

The one with the stars that moves and makes you feel like you are flying through space.

I use "Starfield". I use it mostly as a warning that my screen's about to turn off, because screensavers don't actually save power.

I've never heard of Big Kahuna Reef 2, but you have to be extremely careful downloading screensavers! Most of them are spyware and trojans! NEVER get a "free" screensaver from a banner add! They will totally pwn your computer! NEVER use screensavers.com or any site like it! I've never personally had this happpen to my computer because I know better, but I see it happen on neighbor's computers all the time.

Getting a screensaver from a more reputable source like download.com is safer, but the safest course is to get the open source kind. People can read the source code, so they would know if there was anything bad in them. Some good open source screensavers are "really slick screensavers" and "electric sheep". Make sure you only get them from a reputable site!

They were never intended to save power.

On early monitors, you could get "screen burn". Most OSes (laugh), at that time, tended to leave static displays. After a while, that would literally burn off the phosphors. At best, thereafter, you would have a "ghost" of the static display, etched into the screen. At worst, it was no longer a ghost - and you couldn't read the screen.

Hence was invented the "screensaver". Anything that kept moving the image around.

And now, we have "screensavers" that actually have static parts to the image.

Anyway... I like "Skyrocket" best, I think, out of my 80 standard ones under Ubuntu. "Polyhedra" is good too, as is "Molecule".

I use the default Apple one, which turns screen black while colored flares swoop around/across the screen-so that's not a static/still image. It's pretty to look at, esp. when it's dark in the room-like fireworks, without the noise & mess.

I don't know if screensavers save anything, I just find them pretty to look at. The 3D pipes are very fascinating too, I have had to stop myself from gawking at them for minutes.

I have one from the xscreensaver package, which shows random pictures from the 'net. On Windows Boxen (like in college) I use Marquee with a "funny" saying like: "I wish, I was running Linux!", "da'he ke'ra mi'hadada'ta ameri jilih" (9 of ten people don't understand this text), or "Will emulate Linux for money."

for linux: flying toasters (i'm a sucker for a classic)

I don't normally use screen savers, but since reinstalling seti@home, I've been letting it come on, otherwise I can't stand the things, since I turn my monitor and computer off when I am not using them

I have a screen-saver called "DaVinci" that came bundled with my Acer lap-top running Windows XP.
On my desktop I use "Beziers".

I don't have to worry too much about phosphor burn as my monitors are LCD screens.

Usually use 3d text set to the time...

Something with trees. ^^
