sounds like a driver problem. Make sure you are using the *latest* Nvidia drivers from their website and not the horrible unstable ones that MS packages with windows.

If you're already using them, maybe it's worth going back and using some older nvidia drivers, if the card is older, but I don't think that will fix it.

right click in the desktop > properties > Settings (last tab), there it says there what card you have, and how much video ram.

video ram?
which card?
what nvidia drivers do you have?
OS? (xp, win95, 98, me, etc)

There's your problem... I had a 6000 series melt on me once (by "melt" I'm referring to a colloquiallism for overheating in such a manner that the card is now "permanently fixed"), and the radeon X800 I installed to replace it has worked perfectly fine since then with no adjustments to the cooling in my system...

I refuse to do business with nvidia now...

yeah, the card you have is not supported anymore. You can get a good one for 40 bucks or even less. Or upgrade the whole cpu first.

Ok I gonna get a cheap one because I use that computer for old games like quake and quake 3 but nothing real demanding then I plan on getting an alienware for newer games because I wanna play computer oblivion and morriwind for mods but first I need to find a copy of daggerfall.
