Hi-
I've had a palm tungsten T2 for about two years now, and absolutely depend on it. My 'executive function' is close to non-existent. Recently, it died; tech support on palm said that the battery was likely dead, given the age of the device, and told me that a tech at Radio Shack (there are no palm stores within driving distance) should be able to replace it without dumping the memory.
The girl at the first radio shack thought that it was a cell phone. I've been to two others, and while they weren't as bad as the first, neither were they inspiring of confidence.
Does anyone have experience with these devices? Do you think I could replace the battery myself, if I was on chat with palm tech support while I did it? If you've sent a device in to palm by mail for servicing, how long did it take to get it back?

thanks in advance.

I can't help but I can sympathise. I got sick of the poor battery life in mine and it losing everything so I bit the bullet and threw it out. I've had Palm organisers since they've made them, but after the poor quality of the battery in my T2 never again. It may be a common problem. Palm have lost one long term customer.

I use a Power to Go with my T3 and it's awesome.

Unfortunately palm no longer sells them so you gotta look around.

Here's a step by step breakdown with pictures of how to take your t2 apart.

Wow- good links. Do you know if the power-to-go works with the T2 too?

edit- looks like it does. Now I just have to get my battery replaced.

LKL, I sent you a couple of pm's with info that might be of help.

Here's another website that has step-by-step instructions for replacing the battery.
I believe it's a site that also sells the battery and tool.
This was sent to me on another forum somewhere else.

And here is some information someone sent to me from a different website...

WSmac-
Have you tried ebay?
I just did and there are loads of possible recovery stuff there including
replacement batteries.
How did the original battery stay charged? Solar? AC charger?
Most devices that are charged with an AC charger can be operated
while on AC. And possibly in this case at least long enough for you
to salvage your data.
