Okey i'm on my older sister laptop (she loned it to me when I'm in Pennsylvania the US(for those who don't know) to vist my Great Grandmother with my family), so i'm at the hotel room that we are staying in. I turn on the computer went on the net got on the net did what I have to do to get on the net. So I was signning in to facebook to email my friends and the computer shut down. It had full battery it was not over heated and I did not click on the shut down option. So why or how did it shutdown? (firewall was on, and so was the anti-virus)

I'm going to go ahead and assume that it started back up, since your are posting on here. I wouldn't worry about it too much. If it happens again then maybe worry.

My laptop does the same. It must be a hardware fault. I am busy working then WHAM! the computer has instantly powered off. I lose whatever had not been saved. On powering on again Windows (Vista) complains about the computer not being shut down properly. Unfortunately I bought the computer when I was in England so it isn't convenient for me to get it repaired (I live in France).

The fault seems to strike at random. The computer can work fine for a couple of weeks then have the same problem two or three times in one day. There is no logic to it.

Do any of you hardware experts have any idea what the problem is?

It sounds like a hardware issue, such as overheating from a clogged fan, to a
short somewhere on the motherboard, caused by improper storage on your trip.
