I helped one of the dumbest people I know install SuSE Linux because she liked my enlightenment desktop so much and wanted to have the same one as well.

Most people i know are so afraid of messing up their computer they don't use anything else besides what the computer comes with.

Example- I knew a guy who had a 1.7Ghz Athlon XP w/ 512MB of memory running 98SE because thats what the computer came with. Not even realizing thats a giant waste in hardware power when you could run something like XP.

Actually no. Most of the people that I've met that use Linux, or any of the other UN*X Operating systems save for perhaps OSX are generally not only more intelligent than Windows useers, but are more amenable to the challange of learning the mechanics of an OS.

I've met plenty of Linux users and the distribution of dumbness among them seems to match the 'normal' one.

Oh, sure. You can find most of them in 'Recurring Discussion' on the Ubuntu forums.
