logitech keyboard is forcing me to type only in lowercase

I am having to reconnect the keyboard and mouse every time I power my computer on. The software will not work. It installs fine, but I can't do anything with it. Windows isn't the problem, nor is Linux. The software is the problem and now I'm having connection issues. My keyboard doesn't like USB to PS/2 adaptors and the keyboard comes with a mouse that has enough buttons for my gaming.
