I created it with FrontPage 2003.

I couldn't figure out how to upload it to 110mb with FrontPage's Upload Feature (it may be incompatible with 110mb), nor with the recommended Filezilla. So, I used 110mb's feature to upload the website, three files at a time.

Also, 110mb doesn't allow files that end in .utf8. I don't know what these are, but there were a couple in the directory for my website. I hope they aren't important.

Also, FrontPage creates several subdirectories called _vti_cnf. I don't know what these are for, but they all contain files that are named identically to files in their parent directory. It took a while, but I uploaded all of these also. Maybe I didn't need to--it could be that these are just backup directories that FrontPage creates.

I added links to all of my publications that are available on the internet, and I also uploaded some of my better papers (that weren't available on the internet) to my website.

So, whadaya think? If it works, fine. If not, I can always make a new website and try again.

This design is about average. I agree with another poster who recommends using design templates. I host websites for other people, and my artistic skills suck. I let a NT do my artistic designs, and I write the underlying code for dynamic content and security. You can search the web with the phrase "free web templates," and you will find numerous choices.

Well, that might be a solution. Particularly with the unanticipated FireFox problem. I don't know whether to curse Microsoft of Mozilla for that one.

EDIT: I did a google search, and came across one solution for the colour issue--change the font colour from black to dark blue. Can someone check my home page and see if that did the trick? I didn't change any of the other pages.

Your website is Functional, and I see no problems with readability On my system. I'm using a Linux-based system running Firefox version 2.0 (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0).

I really don't want to upset you and I'm sure you've put a LOT of work into this but the design doesn't work.

There are a few things that you should be aware of;

1. Frontpage is not a very good application - even Notepad is better.
2. Traditional Web Pages aren't much good anymore.
3. Creating pages offline and uploading them en-masse isn't done much these days.

Personally, I'd recommend that you join google (gmail) and set up a blogger account. Blogs are generally more widely read than web pages these days. The good thing about something like blogger is that you can use any of several pre-existing styles - and can then customise them. The blogger styles are really quite good.

In addition, you can also use Google Page Creator (see Google Labs) to host static pages - perhaps make this your ACTUAL web page and include an embedded RSS Feed of your blog. You can use Google Picassa for photos - and link from there and you can use Google BASE for other types of attachments - or google docs if you have documents to share. Finally, connect to your "personal contact info" using Orkut or Facebook.

This all sounds complicated but it's not - it will give you a modern looking site with some amazing feedback possibilities.

oh and finally.... don't write your email directly on the page. That only leads to spam.

Hi, the frontpage is okay, but sections like Education look very odd, the links to your PDF's are scattered all over the page, in no order.

About the content:
If you are selling yourself, you should talk more about what you can do for your target market, about what you offer, your strengths, and about what you have achieved in previous works/consultings.
Oh, and move the fun pics to it's own section.

About the hosting:
You could host it at a hosting provider and PAY for a domain, it's not too expensive, like 20 bucks for a year including the .com domain registration. I recommend to pay for a custom domain because many people won't take it too seriously if you host your page on a free provider.

I think what I'll do for now is fix this one up, and keep it as an online CV, where people can find links to some of my articles and download them. Some of my articles I've uploaded to my site at 110mb.

His website contains links to his blog and to articles that he writes, and to another site where he answers questions in a forum. What he did was absolutely brilliant.

I haven't quite figured out what my niche is going to be.

One thing I'm wondering about--why could some people using FireFox not see my text? Is it because, if a text color is not specified in the underlying code, then Internet Explorer's default is to present the text as black, and FireFox defaults to white? But then, looking at it in FireFox on my computer, I did not have any problems seeing the text.

Make sure you warn people about PDF's. Don't just stick a link there. Say something like "Here is my research report in PDF format (134K)".

Also, your menu on your home page is on top whereas your other pages have it on the side. It should be consistent.

I need to think more about the niche that I am trying to create. In the past, I've more or less developed my own special interests as time went by, and followed through with them. Some of these, I thought should be of interest to others (for example, the application of uncertainty analysis to economics), but they generally weren't, either because they didn't understand it or felt too threatened.

To be correct HTML, it really should have a DOCTYPE at the start.

Maybe using a microsoft charset is just Front Page being proprietary.

I use the WebDeveloper extension to check pages and see what's going on.

You might like to look at KompoZer, as an alternative to FP.

I agree with the point about PDF files - I dislike being forced to download PDF when I was not expecting it (particularly recently, when a bug in the install of my browser's Adobe plug-in was causing the browser (Seamonkey) to crash whenever I hit a PDF link).

Oddly, the first time I looked at your front page, all the images showed as broken links. I'm not at all sure why. Maybe 110mb.com is just slow?

I didn't peruse all of your site. I do like clean, straightforward sites. I hate "clever" clutter, which most people seem to relish.
